We are currently looking for a Development Engineer for our Product Development Liquid Packaging Board team.

As Development Engineer your main tasks will be to initiate, lead and take part in internal and external development projects. You will have an active role in the business areas and the product development teams work to develop new packaging materials and solutions.

Among other work tasks, this includes to:

• Support project management with Sustainability activities
• Product evaluation of sustainability criteria, Perform Sustainability calculations, recyclability evaluations etc.
• Perform technical prestudies
• Perform laboratory testing
• Participate in tests in lab, pilot and at our board machines
• Evaluate new technical solutions with regard to product quality, operating and commercial economy, technical and environmental aspects and propose modifications of our products and processes to further increase customer value, sustainability and profitability
• Work in innovative cross-functional teams

You will be part of a committed team and report to Senior Manager Product Development LPB. We are offering a permanent position in our mill either in Gävle or Gruvön. The colleagues in the team are located in Gävle, Frövi and Gruvön and consists of dedicated development engineers and project managers. We work in close collaboration with other functions such as the business areas, operations and sustainability. Business travels in Sweden are expected.

To succeed in this position, we believe you have:

• A M.Sc. degree in engineering, e.g. chemical, materials, physical or mechanical engineering and/or relevant work experience in the paper industry, possibly in research and development at a university, research institute or in industry
• Technical understanding and analytical handling of test data sets where you have the ability to turn theory into practice and describe practical problems in theoretical terms, with a commercial mindset.
• Work experience from the paper and pulp industry, or similar process industry is not a must but a merit as well as experience from the area of sustainability.
• Good communication skills in English and Swedish, both written and spoken

To be successful in this position, you need to be a self-driven and a structured problem solver with the ability to tackle complex problems, theoretical or practical. You are curious about and interested in developing new and improved packaging solutions. We are looking for someone who wants to work in a large network, both internally and externally, so it is important that you find it easy to collaborate and build relationships. To work as a Development Engineer in our organization, you have the ability to share your knowledge and results in a way that is designed for your target audience.
